BROWE and RS Regulate Team up at SHOT Show

BROWE, Inc., a manufacturer of premium-quality optical systems, has set a new standard in quality, performance and functionality with the introduction of its new 4×32 BROWE Tactical Optic (BTO) combined with the RS Regulate AK-300 side plate adapter mount for Kalashnikov-pattern Firearms.

Powerful and reliable, the Kalashnikov (AK-47) is one of the most popular weapons platforms in the world. It’s carried by the armies and Special Forces of more than 80 countries. In practically any theater of insurgency or guerrilla combat, some form of AK-47 will be found.

Over the past few years, a strong and growing market for Kalashnikov accessories has emerged. The BROWE and RS Regulate optic-mount combination gives discerning operators the ability to attach a state-of-the-art, premium-quality, low-profile optical system to a proven workhorse.

“RS Regulate has excellent reputation for AK-47 mounts. A couple of years ago we started kicking around ideas about combining an ultra low-profile RS Regulate mount with a 4×32 BROWE optic,” said Brian Browe, president of BROWE, Inc.

“This project gave us the opportunity to take a fresh look at the machining of our 7075-T6 forged housing. We ultimately produced a low-profile mounting surface that was specifically designed for the RS Regulate AK-300 mounting system. We call it the BTO-005G-RS.” The AK-300 is the world’s first modular side rail system.

Based on RS Regulate’s highly successful and exceptionally durable proprietary technology, the AK-300 system allows a user to adjust the position of an optic not only directly over the bore, but also front-to-back. The AK-300 system also features a titanium-based, low-profile lock system that does not protrude from the mount or into the trigger guard area.

Defense Technology® has announced the release of the 40mm Tactical 4-Shot Launcher

ONTARIO, Calif. Defense Technology® has announced the release of the 40mm Tactical 4-Shot Launcher, and 40mm eXact iMpact® and Direct Impact™ Adjustable Range Rounds at the 2016 SHOT (Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade) Show at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, from January 19-22.

“These new additions to our product families further illustrate Defense Technology’s ongoing leadership in creating novel solutions to address tactical gaps in the market,” said Dave DuBay, Vice President, Less Lethal. “Defense Technology’s commitment to the men and women of the law enforcement, corrections and military communities has long been established with innovative products, coupled with superior training solutions. Domestically, Defense Technology has helped restore order in every major civil disturbance of the 20th century and has supported our troops from the second world war to today’s war on terrorism.”

Enhancing the family of launchers from Defense Technology, the 40mm Tactical 4-Shot Launcher, produced in collaboration with Lewis Machine & Tool, a precision gun manufacturer, provides an economical choice for the industry over traditional multi-launchers, while providing excellent tactical advantages. In addition to being the lightest weight tactical multi-launcher on the market, the Tactical 4-Shot is equipped with a quad rail and features an advanced pump action.

The 40mm eXact iMpact Adjustable Range Round and 40mm Direct Impact Adjustable Range Round have the ability to engage subjects from five feet to 70 meters to deliver the same energy throughout these distances, in a single round. Until now, this could only be accomplished through two independent munitions. The patented design allows velocity and kinetic energy to be adjusted for two design points for close-in and extended range engagements.  As tactical engagements are fluid in nature, the ability to transition from close to extended range in a single round, while providing point of aim, point of impact accuracy and energy is an industry first.

The 40mm Tactical 4-Shot Launcher (Model 1440) in a black anodized finish will be available in the second quarter this year with an MSRP of $1,899.00. The 40mm eXact iMpact Adjustable Range Round and 40mm Direct Impact Adjustable Range Round (Models 6325-A, 6320-A, 6322-A, 6323-A and 6326-A) available in the first quarter this year, will be offered  in the $29.00 to $35.50 MSRP range, depending upon payload.

Navy SEAL who took photo of bin Laden’s corpse in trouble

Since Operation Neptune Spear when US Special Forces killed world’s most wanted terrorists, an Al-Qaeda mastermind, Osama bin Laden in his hideout in Pakistan alleged evidence of his death never were publicly exposed.

The photos of the corpse of Osama bin Laden, September 11 mastermind, have been kept a closely guarded secret by the US government. But, it looks like that, at least, one member of US Special Operations Forces has kept a memento.

Matthew Bissonette, author of the bestseller No Easy Day and retired US Navy SEAL and member of Navy SEAL Team Six, designated as the one of the US elite warriors who shot bin Laden dead during the infamous kill mission in May 2011 raid has turned in a hard drive containing the picture of Bin Laden’s corpse. He gave the hard drive to authorities as part of a deal to escape being charged, according to US website The Intercept.

Matt Bissonnette was under investigation of NCIS for unlawfully possessing classified information after penning a book about the Al-Qaeda leader’s death. But the inquiry into

But the inquiry into Matt Bissonnette reportedly widened after he handed over the hard drive and the picture of bin Laden’s corpse was discovered on it. That’s the first time to be confirmed that there is a picture of bin Laden’s corpse.

After Operation Neptune Spear, an infamous kill mission on bin Laden’s hideout in Pakistan, Bissonnette wrote the 2012 book No Easy Day, which was his account of the plan to kill the al-Qaeda leader.

In days after it was published, the highly controversial book shot straight to the top of the bestseller list in the United States but landed retired Navy SEAL in trouble for breaking an “unwritten code of silence” among US Special Operations operatives with all the sensitive information it contained.

Could this mean that there are more photos of bin Laden’s corpse and that one day it could emerge in public?

Bowe Bergdahl’s possible motive in alleged desertion revealed

Then Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl was captured by the Taliban, and became the only US prisoner of war for years before he was released in prisoner exchange with Taliban. The search for him led to the deaths of fellow soldiers, military officials have argued. Bergdahl now faces a court-martial on charges of desertion and misbehavior before the enemy follow.

Bowe Bergdahl, originally from Idaho, was once based in Alaska and he has become the most wanted soldier missing in action since Vietnam war.

On the Thursday’s discussion panel, former Sgt. John Rice, who served with Bowe Bergdahl in the same unit, discussed the controversial circumstances surrounding his release from captivity by the Taliban.

“Bergdahl had said he wanted to essentially, not join the Taliban, but he wanted to be similar to a reporter that’s embedded in the Taliban and he wanted to write a book about it,” he said during the panel.

During the discussion, he was asked about justice, and what “justice” would look like for Bergdahl’s case. The panelists expressed a desire for him to stand trial.

“The only thing I want is for him to stand trial and for him to be found guilty, dishonorably discharged, stripped of rank, stripped of rewards,” said Rice.

“The idea that he’s actually going to see a trial in August of 2016, at this point I’m willing to call that a win,” Nick Tabaczka, who also served in the same Company as Bergdahl, said.

The open question remains could it be different for many fellow soldiers who sacrificed their lives in search-and-rescue missions which followed through years?

The only ISIS stronghold protected from US-coalition bombs

The only place where ISIS militants may be safe from the Western bombing jets is inside Syria’s largest dam. The militants are holed up alongside high-value prisoners held by this terror group in the knowledge they can’t be bombed by Western bomber jets, it has been reported.

The now notorious Tabqa Dam, situated 25 miles from the ISIS de-facto capital, Raqqa, would unleash a huge flood which could result with catastrophic devastations of Iraq and Syria if it was ruptured.

The potential humanitarian disaster is around the corner, as the some experts fear the ISIS militants could use this dam as a last resort if they lose their grip on power. So, coalition forces are not a necessary problem because they are conducting airstrikes acutely aware of the potential catastrophe.

In this condition, ISIS militants are aware that dam is the perfect shelter for their senior commanders and ‘very important prisoners’ who are wanted by the U.S. and other governments. All these claims are coming from an umbrella group of anti-ISIS activists in Syria.

Location of Tabqa Dam in Iraq

The Tabqa dam is 200 feet tall and roughly three miles long. In the case of disaster, large parts of Iraq could be destroyed and much of eastern Syria could be cut from power sources.

‘That’s an ecological disaster for Iraq and a humanitarian catastrophe for Syria,’ Ariel Ahram, an associate professor at Virginia Tech who has studied Middle East dams, told the Wall Street Journal.

The so-called Islamic State now controls the arteries of the region, and they could easily use them as the weapon against their enemies, which will lead to humanitarian catastrophe.

SilencerCo Wins Big at SHOT Show 2016

When we received the below press release it was no surprise. SilencerCo is one of the most creative and visually appealing companies in regards to their marketing messages and content. The #StopTheNoise campaign to this day has been one of my personal favorites.

The booth at SHOT was incredible and in a sea of 64,000 attendees, some of the largest companies and marketing budgets on the planet SilencerCo really had to shine to win this. The subtle black and white coloring with impressive imagery made SilencerCo the classy alternative to many bright colored hey look at me booths. Kudos to you guys and we look forward to testing out the Hybrid soon.

SilencerCo Awarded Best SHOT Show Booth for Second Consecutive Year, Receives Most Innovative Product Award for Maxim 9.

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – January 28, 2016 – SilencerCo, the industry leader in silencers and accessories, has received the Best Booth Award at SHOT Show 2016. This is the second consecutive year they have received this prestigious recognition.  In addition to Best Booth, SilencerCo also received the award for Most Innovative Product for the Maxim 9, the world’s first integrally-suppressed 9mm pistol that is both holsterable and hearing safe with any factory ammunition. The Maxim 9 is expected to be shipping in Q4 2016.

These awards are given by Primer Strategy, a prominent firearms marketing agency. SHOT (Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade) Show is hosted in Las Vegas, NV each

These awards are given by Primer Strategy, a prominent firearms marketing agency. SHOT (Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade) Show is hosted in Las Vegas, NV each.

January and is the firearm industry’s largest annual tradeshow, drawing over 70,000 people. Last year, SilencerCo debuted a booth design that imparted the vibe of an art gallery transplanted from the Meatpacking District of New York City.  The gritty-yet-refined vibe was enough to set SilencerCo’s booth apart from the crowd and secure a spot in showgoers’ memories.

This year, SilencerCo once again disrupted the SHOT Show norm with a combination futuristic-yet-rustic atrium and a street-art-meets-political-uprising interior entirely in black and white.  The attention of the design combines theme art and testimonials symbolizing the plight of the silencer owner as part of SilencerCo’s Fight the Noise social movement with the launch of the Maxim 9.

“Based upon SilencerCo’s strong showing last year, we expected them to have another excellent design for SHOT Show 2016 – but when we stopped by their booth, we were completely blown away,” said Katie Perrine, president of Primer Strategy.  “SilencerCo had managed to maintain their protest-theme narrative that we first saw in 2015 while weaving in their impressive brand evolution – both in technological advancements such as the Maxim 9, and in the progression of their Fight the Noise movement.”

“We hope to see more companies take a bold approach to design in the years to come,” said Primer’s creative director, Benjamin Forde, whose accomplishments include art direction for FX’s Sons of Anarchy and HBO’s Generation Kill and The Pacific.

Aaron becomes a shooter: Training at Close Quarter Tactical, Handgun 1

I woke up to the smell of bacon. Not because it was cooking in my house, and no this fat guy was not having a stroke, but because ‘Merica! That and the fact that I knew I was going to do some badass training at Close Quarters Tactical; any chance to squeeze a few hundred rounds of ammo off makes me feel free.

I hopped into the family Tactical Minivan and realized no, this called for the full hardcore experience. I decided this trip was to prime for the Combat Recon Vehicle or Honda CRV for short.

When one drives down the nondescript road lined with giant white concrete buildings, the last thing they would expect is a full-service firearms training center that offers training from basic handgun up to a full tactical kill house with force on force training. But I knew, because, well, I read the website, and, of course, I am an operator.

Operator (op·er·a·tor) noun 1. One who operates stuff… like a car or maybe a donut into their mouth.

Here I found Close Quarters Tactical in Shelby Township, and when I stepped through the front American emblazon doors I was instantly impressed with the facility. A full-service gun store, a range that can take up to .50 BMG, multiple classrooms, and a hand-to-hand training room. I had only wished I brought my Tough Mudder headband because I wanted them to know I was there to work.

I had the opportunity to meet with the staff, each with their sidearm of choice strapped to their hip and a welcoming smile on their face, and the group of students there to experience CQT’s Handgun 1 course.

My experience with training, I felt, was better than most; I have in the past gleaned a ton of information, instruction and techniques from shooting with both Shawn and Jeremy of We Like Shooting. Both of who are instructors and who both preach fundamentals like they were some zealots of a gun cult. I’ve also had the chance to work with Instructor Zero for a short period. Yes, working with Zero was more like just watching someone do amazing things and thinking, “yeah I will never be able to do that.” So going into the classroom, I felt this was all going to be a refresher session exercising the training that I’ve already gotten. You know, I get it, there is only so much information that can be presented by an instructor before they are all reading from the same material. You feel me right?

I was surprised at how well-versed instructor Carl Hospedales was. He is a tactical advisor to law enforcement agencies and security companies within the US and abroad, who has had a deep and distinguished career with a background spanning 30 years in the Military, Special Operations and Tactical Law Enforcement in Global Operations & Training with a special focus on Counter-Terrorism procedures. Wow, that was a mouthful. I realized that this was not going to be just another class.

The first thing that grabbed me was the care and professionalism that Instructor Hospedales took to making the material relatable and relevant to visual examples and hands-on teaching. He knew his stuff, and what was great was how well he worked with the class.

Now to know me is to understand I am a very hands-on kind of learner. Many times people can talk, show diagrams and explain things to me all day, but until I do it, I just won’t learn it. I think it is because I am so self-centered; I mean this has to be about me, or I just don’t care. So the time he took with every student, which was a mix of civilian and former as well as current military personnel, I was like, wow, I get it, and this makes sense.

As the class progressed, I saw the class groupings shrink in size on the targets down range. After every drill, there was an evaluation giving each student pointers, techniques and instructions that improved the shooters on the line.

Another thing I enjoyed about the course was that while this could be very technical and dry, where you normally find that an instructor is talking at you, was instead very interactive, with the teacher talking with you. I walked away feeling that the instructor communicated very well, and then gave us the opportunity to put the techniques into practice immediately, reinforcing the instruction.

While this was just the first of many classes, this basic level class left me more confident than when I walked through the doors, humbled me a bit and bettered me a lot. I would like to say I threw on my polarized sunglasses and drove off into the sunset but, damn, the class is 8 hours long, and the sun had long since gone down. So, I hopped into the CRV and cruised home, happy, and satisfied with what I learned and better prepared for the crazy world in front of me.
