The Sig Sauer P320 Really Is The ‘Lego’ Handgun

If you’re one of those hard-to-satisfy folks whose mood, likes and dislikes change on a dime, you just might fall in love with the Sig Sauer P320. Like Texas weather, the striker-fired P320 can morph in a moment’s notice from full-size, carry, compact and subcompact to suit any need. Modular functionality even allows shooters to choose small, medium or large grips by simply changing the modular backstrap.

Sig X-Change Kit

While size and grip adjustments might be a home run for most companies, Sig Sauer dove deeper to deliver the type of customizable performance that leaves other gun manufacturers scratching their heads. The result? A tool-less 3-point takedown system designed to separate the serialized stainless steel frame and polymer lower from the steel slide and barrel. This adjustability allows the use of an optional Caliber X-Change Kit that makes converting your P320 between 9mm, .357 Sig and .40 S&W quick and easy.

Sig P320-2

The Sig Sauer P320’s rail even accommodates Sig Sauer red dot optics, such as the Romeo 1, along with fixed sights to allow precise co-witnessing between the two sight systems.  The P320 delivers big on eye-catching innovation, exceptional quality, and the reliability you expect from Sig Sauer.

FireFunder Is The Kickstarter For Gun Lovers

As much as I love it, our industry needs an occasional kick in the pants to move into modern times. Adoption of new technology is not just “cool”, it’s necessary for us to thrive over the long haul.

In the “let’s make a real difference to the growth of the industry” category is a new firearms industry venture – FireFunder.com. It’s a crowdsourcing enabler that allows all of us to kick in relatively small amounts of money to invest in new products and technologies.

Started by a ticked off inventor who couldn’t get funding through Kickstarter to build his new idea for a multi-diode shotgun laser, the company aims to help both inventors with new ideas fund production of their products and established companies bring even more products to market if they are limited by capital constraints. Any business has to shelve good product ideas because there’s never enough money to go around.

The model is basically the same as Kickstarter. With the help of FireFunder.com, companies set up online campaigns where they promote their idea and production plans. The crowd (that’s you and me) decides whether to pre-buy the product at a discount, thereby providing the company with capital to start production.

What’s in it for gun stores? Well, two things actually. First, lots of good ideas original in the retail gun community. After all, who’s in a better position to identify new market opportunities than those interfacing with consumers every day. In this scenario, FireFunder.com can help turn those ideas into products. Second, retailers can get first dibs on new products at a discount by acting as the “crowd” and investing in new products.

FireFunder.com expects to go love around the end of March, but you can visit their site now to sign up for information and updates.

Russia is developing a mind-controlled Exoskeletons

Alexander Kulish is head of the department at the United Instrument Corporation and he informed public about the exoskeletons manufactured by its company. He said that development of a power source for the exoskeleton remained a major problem.

“We are working on that… Right now our exoskeleton consists of a number of drives and a control mechanism, but it needs a power source, which means that we need a battery powerful enough to keep the robotic suit running for hours on end,” he said.

Alexander Kulish stated that existing prototypes are primarily used for cargo hauling purposes. They are too bulky and slow to be used in combat. There are several means of operating robotic suits, including via a muscle interface. Teaching them to understand brain commands is a real challenge, though, he added.

“We believe that a neuro-interface connecting the human brain with an exo-suit is the most efficient means of controlling it. The problem is that we need to teach the computer to understand brain-transmitted commands and this is exactly what we are now working on,” Alexander Kulish said in conclusion.

The idea behind exoskeleton is to support the wearer by boosting their strength and endurance with improving their overall skills which should be ideal for the future soldiers. They are commonly designed for military use, to help soldiers carry heavy loads both in and out of combat and they could bring revolution.

Opposite of military use, similar exoskeletons could be used in civilian areas to help firefighters and other rescue workers survive dangerous environments and carry on their mission lot easier. Imagine the firefighter with extraordinary strength, or some other rescue worker in the various life threatening situations where they could use exoskeleton and act more efficient than usually.

HK MP7-A1

The natural evolution of machine guns is represented by PDW (Personal Defense Weapon). This progress is part of the natural process that leads to the improvement of a weapon system and to improves defense systems against the same (… and, of course, vice versa). This new concept of weapons is focussing to enclose the same instrument benefits from very short space of huge data size, typical of the SMG caliber with much better performance and more similar to that of assault rifles.

Key points

The key points that a weapon must have in order to come to the right in this category are described in the PDW Requirement Document D-29 (prepared by NATO), in particular:

  1. The empty weight must not exceed the pound for handguns and three pounds for long
  2. commands safe / fire selector must be ambidextrous
  3. the gauge chosen must be capable of piercing ballistic protection, in particular, the CRISAT body armor at a minimum distance of thirty meters.

Of course, the HK could not present his model for this category and thus was born the project that enabled the company to Oberndorf in 2000 to announce the arrival of MP7-A1 and gun P-46 (direct competitors of the P90 and FiveSeven products from the Belgian FN). Looking at the MP7 is evident that requests NATO have been met. Reduced size makes it ideal for use in cars and in close quarter combat. The polymer body with blood and steel reinforcements provide the right balance between weight and structural strength.

Heckler and Koch MP7-A1 submachine gun

The key grip (typically handgun) is located on the charger which can be 20 or 40 shots. The selector is ambidextrous and conveniently operated with the thumb of the strong hand, has three positions: Safe, Semi-Automatic, Automatic. Calcium is collapsible, in closing allows the use of the weapon as a normal gun (HK in this regard has also designed a special holster for the port as a sidearm), instead of in the open position allows a shot much more focused and preciso.Al point that ensures the manufacturer to be able to obtain rosate of ten shots in less than 2 inches to fifty meters in semiautomatic mode but, in the event that it becomes necessary to use in Full-Auto, you can use the ‘ Reclining front handle which is just past the trigger guard for optimum control on the weapon. The cocking handle is located on the back just above the butt of the weapon and is, in my opinion, the size may be a little too small.

The inevitable presence of a ‘modern weapon of a slide integral Picatinny that takes the upper part of the weapon in all its length. On it has then the opportunity to mount, in addition to the normal rear sights folding, the pointing system which is best suited to the situation of use of the weapon system. In the case where a rail is not enough can be mounted without problems other two small ancillary slides on the two sides of the weapon just over the front handle using the threaded holes. Finally, a ‘very important difference that distinguishes it as PDW from the “old” machine pistols is given by the fact that the operation is the subtraction of gas with the opening delay allowed by the head of the rotatable plug. To give you an idea of the shape of the shutter mechanism and are similar to those of ‘HK G36.

A LITTLE KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE CALIBER

The chamber in 4.6 x30mm is chosen to be the MP7-A1 that the P-46 as its direct competitor Belgian, 5.7 x28mm is used in P90 and FiveSeven. Not surprisingly, the HK is competing just with the FN to ensure that its caliber in the future is adopted as a standard NATO for this kind of development armi.Lo of 4.6 is a collaboration between HK and the British Royal Ordnance Radway Green’s. The starting point for the development was chosen 4.6 x36 CETME (caliber experimental set up in the sixties then put aside in favor of the 5.56×45). The ammunition is also produced by the Italian Fiocchi and is available in many productions with the possibility of using balls piercing fully jacketed steel copper, tracers, normal FMJ. The ball weight varies between 25 and 40 grains and the speed in the mouth is around 700 m / s with energies in the order of 450 Joules, but with a recoil halved compared to the classic 9×19 Parabellum. As caliber has been shown to have a high penetration capacity, managing to pass without problems the bulletproof vest CRISAT (composed of 20 layers of Kevlar and a titanium foil of about 2mm) from more than 200m away.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS OF HK MP7-A1

Caliber: 4.6 x 30 mm
Weight: 1.5 kg
Length: 340/540 mm (soccer collapsible)
Barrel length: 180 mm
Power: Packs of 20 or 40 rounds
Rate of fire: 950 rounds per minute

Who is the mysterious sniper that kills ISIS chiefs in Libya?

The militant chiefs are said to have been picked off one-by-one in Sirte, the Libyan coastal city where colonel Muammar Gaddafi was born, which the ISIS-affiliated groups took control of last year. According to unconfirmed social media reports, ISIS fighters are now sweeping the city for the man ordinary Libyans are said to be dubbing ‘Daesh hunter’.

Social media are full of posts dubbing mysterious sniper as “Daesh hunter”. It’s also reported that ISIS militants are now sweeping the city in order to track down a mysterious killer.

The first militant who died by the hand of the mysterious sniper was Hamad Abdel Hady, a Sudanese national who was killed on January 13, according to Libya Prospect. According to that report, he was an high-ranked official in the sharia court, handing out ISIS’ warped and violent sense of justice.

The next target was identified as Abu Mohammed Dernawi who was killed on January 19 near his home in the city and the most recent death is rumoured to be that of Abdullah Hamad al-Ansari, a high-up commander from southern Libya, who was shot dead as he left the mosque on January 23.

However, despite the eventual sniper could be recognized as a hero to those living under the control of ISIS, this may not be the start of rebellion or something similar against ISIS fighters in the city because journalist Daniele Raineri pointed out a similar assassination took place in July, when an ISIS preacher was shot dead.

The town of Sirte has become a safe heaven for ISIS militants since US-led coalition and Russia’s bombing campaign started. The estimated number of ISIS militants occupying town is around 3,000 fighters.
