I attend many firearms-related events. Trips that take me around the country, and I’m eternally grateful for these opportunities. I get to do something I love and see and shoot tons of guns with ammo I didn’t have to pay for. They’re great events, but the Athlon Outdoors Rendezvous is without a doubt the best. It brings together a dedicated group of writers, video creators, and photographers, with representatives from the firearms industry.
What Makes Rendezvous Different?
While I’m a very small fish in a big pond, a lot of firearm events pull in a lot of people. Some folks are there to have fun, and that’s fine, but it makes it a little harder for folks there to work to connect. Here, the event borders on intimate. You have plenty of time to interact with the folks at major firearm companies.
I can ask my dozen or so questions and get in-depth answers to bring that information to our readers. I have more access to the guns, to the companies, and to the information I want to report on.

Plus, security doesn’t have to be as tight. Guns don’t have to be locked down on walls and racks. Every year, stuff gets stolen at SHOT. It’s a serious problem, primarily with optics, lights, and other small gadgets.
A guy at the Safariland booth told me that every year, people steal the fake optics they place on their blue guns. These are literally aluminum houses used to check tolerances and fit, not even real optics.

Since this is an event for professional firearms media, there aren’t any safety issues. Safety is still a priority, but we don’t have to worry about some guy’s buddy waving a gun around on the line.

Rendezvous creates a positive, relaxed environment that provides plenty of opportunities for conversations, demonstrations, and more. It’s better for the media, and better for companies looking to demonstrate their products.

Not To Mention The View
Rendezvous is hosted at Brush Creek Ranch in Wyoming, and it is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful places in the United States. I haven’t traveled out west much, but Brush Creek Ranch made me realize why so many American frontiersmen risked their lives to go west. It’s absolutely beautiful, with top-notch facilities, staff, food, and rooms; everything here is absolutely wonderful.

As I type this, I have a beautiful view of the Wyoming wilderness. The service is unbeatable, and the folks are so friendly and nice. They are always willing to help and go the extra mile to ensure their guests are well taken care of. It’s spooky how attuned they are with guests’ needs.

I’ve never written a resort review, but if I did, Brush Creek Ranch would get a 10/10.
What’s Coming
After going hot at the range, we had hands-on coverage of the latest and greatest firearms, suppressors, and accessories from the companies you know and love. Keep your eyes open and watch this space for coverage.
