The P99 T Tactical Watch Offers Swiss-Style Precision Fortified with Tactical Toughness

Not all wristwatches are created equal, not by a long shot. The P99 T Tactical Watch by Traser offers seamless fusion between field toughness and high-quality Swiss performance and craftsmanship. Thanks to the good people at Traser, I had the opportunity to experience this timepiece and all its intricate offerings.

Was the P99 T truly a watch that could be taken into the field and hold up to the rigors of the outdoors, as well as being worn for a night on the town? My findings, as I reviewed the P99 T’s seemingly endless amenities, only reinforced its boasts and turned me into a certified believer.

A Classy Start

When the word “tactical” is mentioned regarding gear, clothing, or packs, what comes to mind for many is military-like, outdoor-centric, or task-driven. I thought no differently when waiting for the P99 T Tactical Watch to reach my doorstep. However, upon opening its flip-top box, those thoughts quickly disappeared.

What was before me exuded ruggedness, if I’m being honest, but it also projected class. A cushion held the watch in place, not unlike designer timepieces, while the impeccable perfection of the titanium metal and anti-reflective sapphire glass were absolutely flawless.

After my initial awe, I noticed its tactical traits (more on these later) blended with its ultra-sophisticated overall exterior. My initial observation was that this watch was at home not only in the field, but also while enjoying a well-deserved night on the town.

Fit & Feel on My Wrist

Let’s be honest. When you’re wearing a metal strap watch with a durable casing holding in its precision components, you’re going to feel some weight. However, due to Titanium’s natural lighter-weight properties and an ideal balance reached by Traser’s experienced craftsmen, it was hardly noticeable.

In fact, once adjusted to fit my wrist, the P99 T felt like a natural extension of my own arm. It wasn’t some cumbersome protrusion that distracted me or impeded my movement.

The P99 T Tactical Watch strap offered a folding clasp that was both easy to release and simple to snap to fit. It didn’t release prematurely and blended seamlessly into the adjacent portions of the Titanium strap. Overall, the watch fit well, without “strangling my wrist” or rotating around my wrist like a bracelet. It definitely fell into the “just right” category.

Features and Functionality

The P99 T Tactical Watch isn’t plagued by what many other outdoor watches exhibit. That being, an oversaturation of sometimes never-used features. More often than not, you’ll find a watch with so many buttons that offer more fluff than substance. This watch gives you what you need, while avoiding features that serve little to no purpose when in the field.

Its analog mechanics perfectly show the time through its ultra-clear, anti-reflective glass. At the three o’clock mark is the day/date window, which is easy to locate and read. In total darkness is where this stylish beast truly shines. Traser’s Trigalight Technology allows you to view the hands, indices, and bezel. It also illuminates the seal around the glass ring.

Its soft green luminescent glow requires no external light source. It allows viewing the watch face in nearly any level of light.

In-The-Field Toughness

One thing I must emphasize is, don’t let this watch’s stylish aesthetics indicate that it’s not ultra-tough. In fact, its beauty takes a back seat to both its reliable mechanics and rugged exterior shell.

Its lightweight Titanium body protects it against both corrosion and disruptive magnetic fields. The watch is water-resistant, which is ideal for heavy rain-prone environments or hot and humid climates. Being in South Florida, this watch was constantly exposed to unexpected rainfall. It showed no signs afterwards of damage or disruption to its operation. Even under the hot sun, it functioned without issue. The anti-reflective glass allowed easy viewing under direct sun.

The P99 T Tactical Watch was deceptive to me at first. With its elegant design, I tended to baby it in the field. But I soon learned that this titan of a timepiece could handle itself under adverse conditions just fine.

A Blending of Two Worlds

One would think that the P99 T Tactical Watch’s outer aesthetics and tactical functionality would conflict with each other, but they absolutely don’t. In fact, they complement each other while in the field or when out on the town. Blending the best of both worlds, this watch is just at home in the jungles as it is attending a formal dinner.

Though not inexpensive by any means (Prices starting around $1,000), this watch is not some one-and-done that would be ignored or discarded quickly. Not at all. Once you have this watch on your wrist, I feel it will grant you year after year of dependable hardcore use, which more than justifies its price tag.
