Magpul’s GL9 Line Adds 27rd PMAG.

  • Why only 27 rounds?
    • 9mm rounds have a case taper, meaning that the taller the round stack, the more it tends to curve. Too tall of a round stack in a straight magazine creates unwanted friction and binding and can reduce the reliability that we demand of our products; this why most purpose designed 9mm carbine and submachine gun magazines are curved. In order to maintain compatibility with various GLOCK magazine compatible magazine wells as well as reliability with typical JHP and similar flatter nosed projectiles, we kept the straight magazine body, but limited it to 27 rounds.

Additionally, 27 rounds is the maximum number of cartridges that we can fit in a magazine that meets the 170mm length standard for USPSA competition while still meeting our reliability and durability standards.
  • Why did this take so long!?
    • We refuse to release products that don’t meet our high standards for durability and reliability, and it took us longer than expected to make this magazine perfect; to us the end result is worth the delay. Sometimes products just have to wait if they can’t meet the quality standards we have set for ourselves. We won’t accept your hard-earned money for something that isn’t ready, and we won’t put our name on something unless we’re proud of it. It’s ready now, and is well worth the wait.
  • Why the price drop?
    • We make our GL9 mags out of a material specifically developed for the GL9 magazine family, tailored meet our exact requirements. As you can imagine, using a new material for a new product line has some significant costs early on, but our production numbers are now high enough that we can pass the material savings along to our customers.
  • Can I use this magazine in my…
    • While we can’t check every variant of every firearm that feeds from GLOCK pattern 9mm magazines, we designed our GL9 mags to feed and function reliably in the most common 9mm GLOCK magazine fed platforms. Bottom line is that if your firearm feeds from factory GLOCK magazines without issues, our GL9 mags will work.

That being said, we don’t expect you to have any issues, but if you get a magazine that doesn’t work with your particular firearm, please remember that one of our founding principles is that “No one is using a Magpul product because they have to.”  Our 60-day, no questions asked return policy on all Magpul products allows the user sufficient time to field test gear in an environment of their choosing. If a newly purchased piece of Magpul gear breaks or is unsuitable for the mission, send it back for a full refund. This was our policy when Magpul was founded in 1999, and it remains in effect today. Let us know, and we’ll take care of you.
  • What makes your mag different than [COMPETITOR PRODUCT]?
    • Our GL9 magazines leverage years of experience making the best magazines in the world for other platforms. We’ve carried over our advanced materials, optimized round stack, human factors driven design, and testing expertise. Stainless steel springs are corrosion resistant and don’t exhibit undesirable column collapse when loaded, our controlled tilt follower allows the round stack to orient consistently, preventing binding and unwanted friction, and our high-performance proprietary polymer blend allows for a durable magazine body with no bulging or swelling when loaded. All of this ensures that our GL9 mags meet our standards for reliability and durability, so that you don’t have to worry about it.
