Florida Man Passes Law Making Illegal Things More Illegal

There are NO, I say again NO ACCESSORIES that LEGALLY make a firearm fully automatic. That is a flagrant violation of the National Firearms Act. Required to make full-auto legally is a Federal Firearms License for manufacturing and the products produced are not for commercial sale, again under the auspices of the NFA.

You cannot produce a new automatic for civilian consumption, end of story. End of the law.

“But is shoots fast! Like a machinegun!!”

So can moving my finger fast.

Semi-automatic and automatic are mechanically separate and there is no vague gray zone between them. Think of an electric motor and a gasoline one. You cannot make an electric motor more gasoline. That’s how stupid the statement, “…make rifles more automatic” is.

The prohibition on expensive accessories, like bump-stocks and binary trigger systems, will prevent mass murder like taking a knife away from someone prevents them from eating a hamburger.

Give law enforcement power to take weapons from mentally ill

Red Flag Laws…

Increase school security, deputies on every campus

This I can support. Just don’t leave Broward County in charge.

Get the SAS guy, he knows what’s up.

Mental health and threat assessment at all schools

I am in full support of greater easier access and reduced stigma around students working with counselors. I am also on board with training staff to threat detect, mitigate, try early intervention, help programs, and all of the above to try and get someone in crisis some assistance.

These efforts are infinitely more likely to produce good results yet the ban of the plastic things are what are hailed as the victory.

Provide Safe school officer training for faculty

Probably the most proactive measure adopted is the training of volunteer teachers to be armed against an attack and protect their kids.

What still troubles me are the crowds of folks so utterly convinced of some sort of nebulous ‘moral superiority’ that is alleged to exist so that this “…shouldn’t be necessary.”

I agree. This shouldn’t be necessary. You know what else shouldn’t be necessary? Every legal code that criminalizes an egregious breach of moral behavior. Penalties shouldn’t need to exist if everyone just acted properly.

Armed officers, teachers, and faculty with a tool of defense and a plan to use it is the best answer for an active shooter inside a school.

When does the window dressing stop and we discuss the world as it sits? When do we acknowledge the multifaceted complex nature of the problem and simultaneously
