DRY-FIRE PRACTICE: ESSENTIAL TRAINING

Dry-Fire Training Gear

Dummy rounds are inert cartridges that provide a very clear difference from live ammo. They do not have powder, primers or projectiles, so they cannot be fired. They come in a variety of colors, materials and calibers. Although most modern handguns are not damaged by dry-firing an empty gun, the use of dummy rounds (or snap caps as they are also known as) is good practice and allows you to practice your skills with all of the necessary components. The Saf-T-Trainer rounds are plastic rounds colored a bright orange or yellow.

SIRT Laser Training Pistol– safe, effective, and innovative. The Shot Indicating Resetting Trigger (SIRT) Training Pistol was developed by shooters for shooters, to complement, not replace, live fire training. It is a training pistol with the look, feel and approximate weight a real firearm provides enhanced dry-fire practice. The Shot Indicating Resetting Trigger (SIRT) system assists shooters in developing proper grip and trigger control without spending money on ammunition. The auto-resetting trigger activates two lasers – one when pressure is applied to the trigger and the other displays “shot” placement. Features standard sights and a functional magazine release that enables users to practice reloads using the included weighted training magazine. Those that have used the SIRT say they have experienced a significant increase in performance in their shooting abilities. The extra daily practice, even as little as concise 10 second drills a day, can add huge gains over time.

The MantisX can be used for beginning through advanced proficiency training. Attach MantisX to the accessory rail of any firearm, just like you would any other firearm attachment. It is compatible to use with firearms and do live fire, dry fire, airsoft, and CO2. Install the smartphone application, turn on MantisX, and pair the device with a phone via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE or Bluetooth 4.0). Then you are ready to evaluate your shooting performance, identify areas of improvement, and track progress over time.

MantisX tracks the movement of your handgun’s barrel during the trigger pull. Shots are grouped according to movement pattern similarity. It also has a shot-by-shot analysis which tracks score of each shot individually and then analyzes trends. With the audio feedback you can keep your eyes focused. By using the various tools, settings, and drills you can have complete control over how you train and have a full record of your improvement!

There are many resources and tools available for dry-fire practice. We encourage you to research methods, instructors and products to make sure they will benefit your progress and not just take money out of your budget!

Before you get started in your dry fire practice, read and follow the dry-fire safety rules. Make sure to use these rules each and every session!
