The difference? Passive security measures make an action more difficult. A trigger lock makes it harder to load and fire a gun. A safe, locked door, or locked drawer makes it harder to take what’s inside. That’s it.
You, the owner of said item, don’t know anything is happening or not happening at any given moment. You have just made it more difficult to get the item.
Simtek Changes the Game
This is active security, you can react and do something about the fact that someone opened your safe, drawer, lockbox, truck bed, etc. Active monitoring for your secure spaces.
You name a static closed space and you now have an active reliable method of monitoring access in real time.
And in a masterful understanding of how we work as modern humans it uses the alert device we pay attention to the most, the cell phone.
The DUO
The DUO is named for its dual sensor suite. Utilizing visible light and passive infrared motion (PIR) to track access. A door opens and someone is there emitting all the IR radiation (heat) in motion, plus the visible light change, tells DUO to start texting.
This technology mirrors what military installations use on their arms vaults but miniaturizes it and personalizes it for your specified contact list.
It’s as convenient as a text alert for bank card use or
Why cell signal and not WiFi?
Cell is encrypted and more reliable. Not contest. Because the data burst notification is basically a text, it uses a very small amount of data to send. Far less than a phone call or automated VM.
Even in regions where you’re dropping to 3G and other weaker data signals the DUO can push a message through. If you can get a text, you’re covered.
Maintaining the DUO
The battery will last approximately a year on a charge sending 10 alerts a month. Each message will give you the DUO’s current battery level and status.
Maintaining the subscription is just $4/month. Half of Netflix, done.
Easy.
Secure.
Unobtrusive.
