Ruger’s new Security-9 pistol is an inexpensive 9mm ($379) featuring a 4.0-inch barrel and 15+1 round capacity. Dimensions are 7.4” L x 5.0” H x 1.02” W, making for relatively easy concealment. Features include a through-hardened steel slide and barrel, nylon grip frame, and precision machined, aluminum chassis with full-length guide rails. The Secure Action is derived from the proven LCP fire-control system, and combines a smooth trigger pull with the crisp feel and short reset of a single-action design. Other features include textured grip frame, dovetailed, high-visibility fixed front white dot/drift-adjustable rear U-notch sight system, internal Secure Action hammer, front and rear cocking serrations, bladed trigger safety, external manual safety, and a hammer catch to help prevent the hammer from contacting the firing pin unless the trigger is pulled. It comes with two steel magazines. Both the slide release and the external safety lever were difficult to manipulate, the former needing two thumbs to release, and the latter requiring a screw driver to force it into the on-safe position.
