Nikon Monarch 3000 Stabilized Rangefinder

The new Monarch 3000 Stabilized Rangefinder from Nikon ($419.95 with 5-year warranty) reduces vibrations of the image in the viewfinder caused by hand movement (sinusoidal waves) by 80%, making measurement to more distant, smaller targets much easier. It will range targets from 8 to 3,000 yards distant, although the maximum ranging capability depends on the reflectivity of the target—reflective targets to 3,000 yards, trees to 1,100 yards and deer to 1,000 yards. It includes a red internal display for easier viewing, automatic brightness adjustment to fine tune display brightness according to surrounding ambient light level, a Target Priority Switch System for measuring overlapping targets: the First Target Priority mode displays the distance of the closest target, useful when measuring the distance to a target in front of an overlapping background, while the Distant Target Priority mode displays the range of the farthest target, which is useful in wooded areas. It offers quick (0.3 second) and stable measurement response, includes a 6x monocular with multilayer coating for bright, clear images, and Horizontal Distance Display and Actual Distance Display modes for use on inclines/declines.
